Hirschi soccer teams win finales over Burkburnett

Wichita

Michinsi Montoya scored four times Tuesday night, helping pave the way for the Hirschi girls soccer team's 5-0 victory over Burkburnett on Senior Night.

Ruby Cornejo also scored for the Lady Huskies off an Andi Newberry assist in the regular season finale at Memorial Stadium.

Hirschi (8-10-1, 6-2-1) finished in second place in 3-4A after Bridgeport pulled out a 3-0 win over Decatur to clinch the title. The Lady Huskies would have repeated as champs if not for an earlier forfeit loss to Burkburnett (1-17-3, 1-7-1).

Huskies power into third place

Hirschi scored three goals in the first half Tuesday night en route to a 4-0 victory over Burkburnett at Memorial Stadium.

The Huskies (7-12-1, 2-6-1) finished in third place in 3-4A with the win and will play Mineral Wells in the bi-district round. That matchup is tentatively set for 4 p.m. Oct. 29 in Graham.

Hirschi's Shaughnessy Emanuel scored a goal Tuesday against Burkburnett.

Isaiah Esquibel, Alan Enriquez, Oscar Rico-Dominguez and Shaughnessy Emanuel tallied goals for the Huskies with Esquibel and Enriquez finding the back of the net for the first time this season. Jose Chavarria set up three of Hirschi's goals, while left winger Sergio Chavez was a standout.

"I thought we ended the regular season on a high note," Hirschi coach Alston Calliste said. "The goals we scored were very good goals and I thought our midfield played very well."
